The Difference Between a Smart Parody and a Dumb Copy That Adds Nothing to the Appreciation of the Original
This is hilarious and insightful and clever -
And this is the lame version that the Kanyedashians just made to promote Kanye West's mediocre new album, the blasphemously entitled "Yeezus." Just one more reason to hate those people. I used to love Kanye but I've grown tired of his antics, especially now that the music isn't that great. I can put up with a lot if the music's great. See: Michael Jackson. I'd check out "On Site," song #1 that sets the listener up to think it's going to be a great album, but it just goes down hill from there, until the final song, "Bound 2," a soul throwback to his early work. Sounds like it'd fit right in on the College Dropout, but feels out of place on Yeezus. And plus the album name is not clever at all. Totally bored by it and him in general. And Jay-Z is now releasing, cough cough, um, "Magna Carta Holy Grail." Seriously, Kanye and Jay-Z can go f#$k themselves.

Learn to Tie
Think you know how to tie your shoes properly? Wrong. Seriously. Please watch this video. It has changed my life. As in, my shoe laces don't come untied even when singly knotting them. Got a huge head start on the presenter, considering I'm a young, robust 33.
The subject line is, of course, inspired by one of my all-time favorite bands and songs -
I've never thought about it before, but those lyrics are mildly Satanic. Oh Rock Music, you and your Satanism!

RIP Patrice O'Neal
It's not awesome that he died, but his comedy was awesome. And it'll be around forever, thanks to technology. Please go to the following link to read the news and watch a couple of his clips.

Bonobos Are Pretty Awesome
Not just the horny primates. The pants. And now they sell other stuff, too, like really expensive bathing suits and scarves. They emailed out a 20% off coupon code yesterday (bananas), so you should try that or look up "Bonobos coupon code" and see what's available. You should really do that any time you buy something on line.
I'd prefer to embed this video, but the Bonobos people probably want visitors to their YouTube page to stay and watch other videos about their pants. Great story about some entrepreneurs who have started a great business, selling a fantastic product in one of the worst economic downturns the U.S. has ever seen. Kudos to these dudes.

BTTF2
If you're a dude and were born in the late 70s or early 80s, you are probably obsessed with the Back to the Future movies. And we've all been hoping for the awesome Nikes that Marty wears in BTTF2 and, up until we could drive, all wanted hoverboards.
I saw Michael J. Fox on Letterman a few nights ago and he was discussing a fundraiser auction thing he's doing for his Parkinson's research foundation. Here's a pretty awesome video about it -

A Much Less Depressing 911
The new Porsche 911 is one of the most beautiful, I mean awesome, things I've ever scene. I am drooling like Homer Simpson.

KW on SNL
This guy is just ridiculous. Buy his new album. It's awesome. Not on iTunes, though. The case and art stashed within it are worth owning. Maybe I'm old fashioned.

The Japanese Pop Star of the Future
I heard about this from WWTDD, who read it on Joe Rogan's Twitter. This is the first I've heard, but apparently there's a 3-D hologram named Hatsune Miku that is now a huge star in Japan. The Japanese are so weird. It's so awesome. I lived there for 3 months in 2002 and it's like being on a different planet. I loved it, don't get me wrong, and people often experience "reverse culture shock" when they return to their home countries after a prolonged stay there. Upon returning to the U.S., I experienced a rather annoying phase during which I would say "you know, in Japan..." about how much better practically everything was over there.
Here is a video of one of "her" performances, along with an enthusiastic crowd. Her singing voice is created with a computer program. I suppose this isn't much different than loving a cartoon character, like Homer Simpson, for example. I have said many times that I wish he were a real person and I were friends with him.
The concert footage of Hatsune Miku sort of reminds me of the Floston, Paradise shows in The Fifth Element.

USA!
This is probably the greatest commercial in the history of television. Even better than the "What Should I Do?" Lebron commercial.

I Thought Beer Was for the Horses And the Men Get Whiskey...
But this is pretty awesome. I was thinking "hey, wouldn't it be nice if someone started a website through which an appreciative US (or French, cough, WWII) citizen could buy a soldier a beer.
Well, of course it already exists, and now it's going on my page for the duration of our wars. So, uh, forever.
www.beerforsoldiers.org
And here's the song to which I alluded in the title. It's one of Toby Keith's best. His official video version is terrible, so we'll see how long this one stays up -

Chinese Public Transportation Is Going To Be Pretty Awesome
While the Chinese are designing buses that can literally drive on top of automobile traffic, we here in the greatest country in the world are building school buses that go 367 mph, just for the hell of it. This is what makes us so awesome, yet at the same time, pretty stupid.

The Chinese are planning to rule the 21st Century with the Indians and the Brasileiros, while over here we're still number 1, but clearly on the decline. Another concept the Chinese are working on is a high speed train that doesn't have to stop for passengers to board and alight (that means "get down/off"). It's incredible (I assume you speak Chinese, so turn the sound up to hear the hilarious voice-over)-
